Women and girls in the center of development
Representing the ICEH, Fernanda Ewerling went to Delhi and Jharkhand, India, to participate to a week of meeting and roundtables on India’s women lives and empowerment, discrimination and abuse, violence, and on laws and policies that influence women and girls’ health and development outcomes. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which has put women and girls as one of the priorities in their investments both globally and in India, headed all these meetings. The visit to the country also included an interaction with members of a village in Jharkhand, which participate in a self-help group program; and another with a group of women and girls in Ranchi to know more about their lives, perspectives and hopes for the future.
