ICEH researcher to participate in IEA international webinar on equity-oriented epidemiological research

Professor Aluísio Barros, senior researcher at the International Center for Equity in Health (ICEH), will participate in an upcoming webinar organized by the International Epidemiological Association (IEA) — one of the leading global organizations dedicated to advancing epidemiology and strengthening its contribution to public and global health.

The webinar is scheduled for 11 March 2026 at 9:00 a.m. (UTC−5) / 11:00 a.m. (UTC−3) / 3:00 p.m. (CET) and will explore the role of epidemiological research in shaping effective, equitable, and evidence-based public policies. The discussion will highlight how rigorous data, innovative analytical methods, and regional perspectives can be translated into meaningful impact on population health.

The theme is closely aligned with Professor Barros’ longstanding work in the field of health inequalities, particularly in the development and application of methodological approaches to measure and monitor inequities in maternal, child, and population health. Over the past decades, his research has contributed to strengthening equity-oriented analyses and informing policy decisions in Brazil and internationally.

Professor Barros’ participation underscores ICEH’s continued engagement in global scientific dialogue and reaffirms the Center’s commitment to producing high-quality epidemiological evidence aimed at promoting fairer and more effective health systems.
